Job Description

Norfolk County Council - Senior Carer

Location: Candidates will need to be able to work in at least one of the following areas: - • East - Great Yarmouth • Breckland • Norwich.

Contract: Initial Five Week Contract with Possible Further Extension.

Hours: Full Time Shifts – 37 Hours a Week

Payrate: £12.60 an Hour / Night Work is Time and Half

Compliance and Training Requirements:

• RTW • Minimum 2x Professional references • Enhanced DBS issued in last 12 months, can be on update service (must include Adults Barred List Check)

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care • Medication Administration Training

Responsibilities

To provide and ensure all aspects of personal care are provided to residents/clients in line with their care plan using a person-centred approach,

encouraging and promoting service users to reach their maximum level of independence, wherever possible undertaking these tasks for themselves.

This may include help with mobility, help with toileting, washing & dressing.

Display good communication skills (both written and verbal) as part of the key worker system, contribute to discussions on individual care plans and the reporting process by maintaining and updating records as required.

Administer medication to residents/clients as well as deal with visiting professionals and ensuring that their health and medical needs are met in full as prescribed by the GP and District Nursing Teams.

Ensure health & safety procedures are carried out by all staff in providing care to the residents/clients, ensure that all service user needs are met,

to undertake other specialist tasks commensurate with the senior level of the post subject to service user needs,

make a positive contribution to, and work constructively within the team, keep appropriate records of work and communications and file them appropriately, etc.

To build, maintain and promote good relationships with residents/clients, displaying good communication and listening skills, to ensure they are provided with an effective communication network.

This may include: Talking and listening to residents/clients, helping them to maintain contact with family, friends and the community, assisting with shopping and recreation tasks and opportunities, being aware of their likes, dislikes, nutritional and cultural needs.

To care for the personal belongings (excluding cash and valuables) of residents/clients.

This may include: Tidying bedrooms, cupboards\wardrobes, making beds, emptying commodes, Washing, cleaning and laundering personal property if necessary.

To support the nurses to undertake hourly checks of residents (where appropriate).
