Solihull – HR Generalist

Location: Manor Square, Solihull, West Midlands, B91 3QB

Contract: Contract to March 2022

Hours: Full Time – Monday – Friday

Payrate: £15-18 an hour


The client is looking for a HR professional who has a degree in Human Resource Management or a minimum of their CIPD level 5.

This role will be based on the internal Recruitment team and the successful candidate will be working with Hiring Managers to support them with their Recruitment Strategy, Recruitment campaign,

interviews and any other HR business function to do with Recruitment.

This role is very much so a generalist HR role and it will involve a lot of partnering with different services to support Managers where possible.

The appointed persons day to day will be centred around recruitment but from a more strategic side rather than actual sourcing.

It will be supporting Managers with implementing a more robust and fair selection process. Supporting with things such as Equality within recruitment,

indirect and direct discrimination when recruiting/ posting job boards and general HR advise/guidance.

Role Responsibilities

To establish and maintain effective networks and relationships with hiring managers and other stakeholders in order to deliver a recruitment service which meets their needs and expectations.

To develop, deliver and project manage effective end to end resourcing campaigns including advising managers on advertising, sourcing options, methods of attraction, copy writing, job descriptions and person specifications.

To advise on and deliver assessment processes, including designing assessment centres, developing in-house tests, administering psychometric testing, participating in interview panels, ensuring good candidate care and advising on interview questions.

Where required, to actively search for/target potential candidates using social media and other sources.

To liaise with/manage recruitment agencies/ consultants including, where appropriate, negotiating beneficial rates.

To work with areas where there are particular recruitment difficulties developing and implementing creative solutions.

To deliver recruitment and selection training including safer recruitment training.

To act as one of the Council’s DBS counter signatories ensuring checks are appropriate and robust risk assessments are completed as necessary.

To contribute to the continued development and exploitation of the Council’s Candidate Management System. 

To contribute to the development the council’s ‘employer brand’ and the marketing of Solihull MBC as the ‘Employer of Choice’.

To assist with the development and implementation of the Council’s Resourcing Strategy.

To analyse resourcing data (both internal and external) and use it to inform future campaigns.

To assist with the development of policies/procedures and reports on recruitment related topics

To keep up to date with the latest developments in resourcing/assessing methods.
