Location: Castleford Market, Carlton Street, Castleford, WF10 1BE

Contract: Contract to April 2022

Hours: Full Time

Payrate: £10.41 an hour

Description:

To be part of a team that is responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of high quality and cost-effective market facilities across the district.

The team’s focus is the setting up and taking town of stalls and equipment and market sites, as well as supporting the delivery of market facilities.

Key Outcomes/ Activities

Undertake tasks as directed by your supervisors to ensure the successful operational delivery of market facilities so that visitors and local people can access high quality services and experiences.

Ensure that markets are delivered safely by:

To being aware of your own H&S responsibilities and of all relevant H&S policies and procedures

undertaking vehicle inspections prior to use and ensuring any issues highlighted at dealt with at the time if possible or if not flagged through the appropriate mechanism

Ensuring that all H&S policies and procedures are followed at all times when erecting and dismantling market stalls

To ensure that appropriate PPE is worn at all times

To ensure COSHH compliance at all times

Undertaking health and safety site and stall checks to ensure that compliance with all health and safety legislation is adhered to

Addressing any H&S concerns at the point of contact to resolve them where possible – where this is not possible following the correct reporting procedure (for example, Incident Report Form)

To participate in the development and review of risk assessments and safe work practices.

To undertake the opening and closing of market facilities on a daily basis in a safe and efficient manner, including operating the alarm, heating and ventilations systems. Ensuring that that facilities are safe and operational for trading.

To allocate stalls to casual traders who have not pre-booked through the Payments and Allocations team, if a stall is available.

Occasional collection of casual trader and business start- up rent payments via automated system, in the absence of the Market Attendant

To collect vehicles, trailers and stalls from depots and transport to site safely, effectively and efficiently

To erect and dismantle market stalls across market facilities’ and at other sites where market stalls are being provided, including removing bars and boards, safely, effectively and efficiently 

To amend stall bars and layouts as requested

To hand out and collect in stall sheets and tables as required
