Barnsley – Category Manager

Location: Westgate Plaza One, 1 Westgate, Western Street, Barnsley, S70 2DR

Contract: Contract to February 2022

Hours: Full Time – Monday – Friday

Payrate: £20 an hour


We have a requirement for an Interim ICT Category Manager.

The general role and responsibility of a Category Manager based on a permanent role is provided in the attached job profile.

As an interim we'll be looking for the chosen candidate to pick up and progress a number of ICT related projects and tenders.

As a result, it is essential that the candidate has an ICT procurement background.

Experience of working in the public sector and specifically local government would be advantageous but is not as important as having sound ICT procurement knowledge and experience.

The role will have the support of a dedicated Procurement Officer who the successful candidate will be expected to supervise and support.

The main requirements are as follows:

IT focussed in a fast-moving environment.

Lead on end-to-end tender process from developing the initial requirements with a number of stakeholders such as IT infrastructure, IT security and the end user department,

writing the tender documents, managing the tender process through to contract signature and project handover.

An emphasis on governance not only in procurement but in terms of IT security and standards.
