Worcestershire County Council - Local Outbreak Response Team Leader
Location: County Hall, Worcester, WR5 2NP
Contract: Initial three-month contract with possible extension
Hours: Full Time 37 Hours a Week – 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday
Payrate: £18 - £20 an Hour
Purpose of the Role
To lead a duty team delivering a high standard of first point of contact services to people needing support from the LORT
To identify and understand the key risks of transmission of COVID-19 when discussing a situation
To be able to accurately record information and highlight when action needs to be taken
To give advice which corresponds with national and local guidance regarding COVID-19
To represent the LORT and WCC and always provide excellent communication in a timely fashion
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Prioritising and organising the tasks for the LORT responders each day
Setting up a LORT service meeting 3 times a day to monitor and track activity, reprioritising where necessary
To highlight to the duty public health consultant when issues require their attention
Refer queries or situations to external organisations when relevant and check for new and incoming situations in Inbox
Produce daily information reports to partners, including ASC, WCF, and the wider LORT team handover report
Ability to triage issues, often complex in nature, from a range of enquires prior to relevant escalation to Public Health consultants
Demonstrate a strong commitment to tackling a wide range issues of in a non-departmental manner
High levels of energy, stamina and resilience with the ability to confidently lead a team of responders and administrators and with the ability to direct and/or delegate tasks, responsibilities and authorities effectively
Dealing with highly sensitive and/or confidential matters in relation to local outbreak responses
Excellent organisation, planning and communication skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload, often with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines, whilst remaining calm under pressure
Expert analytical and judgemental skills to analyse, interpret and communicate complex situations
Must be able to accurately summarise and convey complex information
Ability to work enhanced hours on a rota basis over a 7-day week from Wildwood with flexible working arrangements
Excellent Leadership, coaching, supporting and team building skills, as well as being comfortable working in a matrix environment
A relentless focus on prioritising along with embedding and evaluating progress routinely and regularly
Active knowledge of working with key partners in delivering shared outcomes
To work collaboratively with a range of agencies, organisations and practitioners
Knowledge of Council operations, services, objectives, policies and procedures or knowledge of Partner objectives e.g. Health, CCG, District councils, PHE
To contribute to effective business planning and performance management to support the drive to continuous improvement and work with other managers to ensure that innovative solutions are sought to support improvements and respond to changing needs and challenges
To support, as requested, the strategic planning of service and policy development which responds to assessed need and is compliant with national, regional and local standards.
To contribute to key service and strategic plans, which are regularly monitored and used to ensure delivery of key local and national service objectives
