Job Description
Head of Service for Customer Service, Libraries and Archives (Interim Role) | Dorset
Key Duties:
- To develop and deliver operational plans and processes to deliver agreed service outcomes and plans.
- To effectively identify and allocate budgets and resources to optimise services and facilitate change and transformation.
- To work collaboratively across the Council and with the Council’s partners to champion innovation within allocated services to secure the best outcomes and value for money for our citizens and customers.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of leading strategically within a large organisation, across a varied portfolio
- A track record in building, managing and motivating teams through challenging circumstances to achieve results. You will assume responsibility for three Service managers
- Experience in a local authority would be useful but not essential as we are keen to consider candidates with transferable skills
- Strong customer focussed outlook is essential, and the ability to manage project delivery through internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to engage with and influence key stakeholders including members, leaders and team members and trade unions is key.
- Experience of managing change including the impact of this change on employees and communities
We recognise this is a unique role and a candidate may not have experience in all three services, however we will be looking for individuals who have an interest in and ability to demonstrate transferable skills across the areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Continuing to develop and deliver operational plans and processes to deliver agreed service outcomes and plans.
- Working with Service Managers to effectively identify and allocate budgets and resources to optimise services and facilitate change and transformation.
- Progress the collaborative work across the Council and with the Council’s partners to champion innovation within allocated services to secure the best outcomes and value for money for our citizens and customers.
