JOB TITLE:  Solicitor

LOCATION: Trafford, Greater Manchester

PLACEMENT: To start ASAP, Monday- Friday

PAY RATE: from £26 per hour

4Recruitment Services are seeking an Qualified Solicitor to join the Council’s Children, Families and Well-being Team for our client based in Manchester.

The role will involve providing a comprehensive, cost effective, responsive and quality legal service in the field of health and social care within the Council and work as a solicitor as part of the Council’s in-house legal team in close cooperation with the Adult Social Care team. The post holder will take all appropriate steps to ensure that the Council meets its adult social care responsibilities and priorities.

The candidate will be able to manage a busy caseload, which will include dealing with matters in the following areas:

• Care Act 2014
• Mental capacity and best interests
• Court of Protection
• Deprivation of Liberty
• Judicial Review
• Ordinary residence
• Mental health
• Care charges and adult social care debt recovery

You will work closely with Children, Families and Well-being service and other services as well as the legal services team and will therefore have good customer care and interpersonal skills, good communication and problem solving skills and will work well as part of a team and be flexible, enthusiastic and committed. Well-organised and adaptable, you may from time to time be asked to take on challenges outside your field of expertise. Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours as the office is open from 7.00 am until 5.30 pm (operated on a Rota system). There may be some travelling to Sale Waterside within this role to meet with clients and attend meetings.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Current DBS
• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
• Experience of working with and providing legal advice and assistance to other departments/services
• Experience of conducting advocacy in Magistrates and/or County and/or High Courts and before other tribunals
• Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures
• Demonstration of CPD in the area of Adult Social Care
• Grading between 8-10:
  Band 8 – up to two years’ successful experience in the relevant area
  Band 9 – two years’ experience and a satisfactory PDR based on client feedback, level of supervision required, complexity of work carried out, training and meeting time recording targets
  Band 10 – three or four years’ experience and a satisfactory PDR based on client feedback, level of supervision required, complexity of work carried out, training and meeting time recording targets
